At this point in the story, I considered doing several further strips with Gene dealin' with the feelin' - most likely slumped in a dejected (if grimly humorous) heap on his bed - and working out all the many-splendoured man-emotions grunting and knuckle-dragging their way through his head. I say 'considered', because for one reason or another, they never eventuated: evidence points firmly to A) the fact that I was busy at university during 2003, B) the fact that 'slumped in a dejected heap' isn't exactly a state of being rife with comedic potemtial (at least, I had no experience of doing such back then - maaaaaaybe I could do it now), and C) the fact that they would have made things far too angst-ridden for both Gene and Cosmos as a whole. The only progress I made on this otherwise-abandoned portion was the above rough-sketch-with-script, which would have come at the end of the 2/ 3 / however many 'Gene having a strop' strips I might have ended up with.... However, seeing as how it actually EXISTS, I felt it was important (not only for the sake of story continuity, but also completeness) to include it here; to show that Artie and co. were with Gene throughout the grim-ness ('cause you'd want to be reassured of that, right?), and did eventually manage to coax him out of the gloom. And even though this comic never saw completion, I definitely consider it canon: it just happened, y'know, off-camera....
