Welcome! We now embark on the second of our trips into the history of the core Cosmos strip, with an exploration of a semi-tradition that I picked up from Bill Amend's FoxTrot comic: the 'geeking out over the latest nerd movie' story, wherein the characters get up to hi-jinks as they wax idiotic about their new favouite motion picture. It's not something I did as often as I wanted to (planning out the stories was time-consuming, for one thing), and keeping to any sort of 'schedule' was usually impossible - Bill Amend managed to keep pace with any number of movies per year, but if I got two stories done in that year (or the movie wasn't old news by that point) it was a bit of a miracle. Needless to say, I simply limit myself to the odd parody or string of general references these days. Back in 2003, however, I pulled this one out of the hat: Ang Lee's 'Hulk' film had come out, and boooooooy were Artie and Gene happy about that! This little intro - appropriately enough - cribs directly from the little blurb on the title page of the Incredible Hulk comics of the late 90's / early 2000's, turned into gleefully-overblown narration by Mr. Deacon and Mr. Ellis.... much to the obvious (and quite clearly intentional) frustration of their long-suffering compatriot Macy....
