'Gold plastic syndrome', for those of you not in the know, is a rather fatal condition afflicting particular toys of the late '80's / early '90's (certain Transformers, for example); where the gold plastic they're made out of is unstable and prone to cracking, or even shattering, with minimal provocation. This results in barely-played-with toys with broken limbs, snapped waists, cracked bodies.... and even, in extreme cases, mint-in-package toys falling to pieces before they've even been opened! As a result, it is very rare to find any toys with that affliction surviving to 2016 (or, well, beyond a year or so) in good condition. I'm looking at you, Transformers: Generation 2 Slingshot.....
